National Festival of Folk Dance, Arts & Music
Shilpgram Mahostav will begin from 17th January
Sangbad Sanggam NE, Guwahati, January 13 : The North East Zone Cultural Centre is organizing Shilpgram Mahotsav- 2018 a National Level Festival of Arts on Music, Dance, Theatre, Food, Craft, Children Activities marking its 12th Foundation Day at its complex at Panjabari, Guwahati from 17th to 20th January, 2018 on a larger scale in order to draw a wider media and public participation from and beyond the region.
The festival will present the cultural heritage of the North East. Apart from the zone, the artistes from other zone have been invited. Artistes and craftsman will participate in the festival. Children Talent Presentation, Magical Show, Children Painting & Drawing Workshop, Vanishing Art, Folk Dances & Music, Drama Presentation, Mime Show Presentation, Classical Dance by Sonal Mansing, & Fusion Songs & Music by Various Popular Artistes from Assam will be main focus of the Mahotsav. The Mahotsav will be entry free and open to all from 11.00am to 9.30 pm onwards .
The primary objectives of preservation, promotion and dissemination of the folk art & culture of the region within and outside the region has been achieved to a great extent since its inception and more so during the recent years by the North East Zone Cultural Centre under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The NEZCC organizes a number of Crafts Mela by providing available space at nominal rent. Cultural shows are also organized by inviting various artistes to perform at the Complex in the evenings at the Open Air Stage to project and promote the performing arts of the region. The facilities of the crafts village are also being made available to private and semi government organizations for holding programmes. Shilpgram is a hub of cultural activities offering opportunities to varied performing artistes, Crafts persons etc.
The Centre is making all out effort to ensure mass participation in the activities of the Shilpgram by involving NGOs, individuals working in the field of Art & Culture, schools, colleges and universities are also encouraged to associate themselves and contribute to the progress of Shilpgram through their innovative and creative ideas.
The major highlights of the festival includes, Theatre presentation, Magic Show, Mime Show, Children’s Painting and Drawing Workshop, Folk fusion music by various popular artistes of Assam in addition to Choreographed Folk Dance presentation, Classical Dance, Food & Crafts Mela etc.
Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland & Chairman, NEZCC Shri Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya has consented to grace the occasion as Chief Guest on 17th January, 2018 at 5: 30 pm. Dr. Birendra Nath Dutta, Eminent Author, Scholar & Artist and Dr.Mridul Hazarika, Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University will grace the occasion as a Guests of Honour. All are welcome to the festival
