Border Area Programme Successfully Conclude at Bhairabkunda

North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC ), Dimapur, Ministry
of Culture, Government of India in Association with Voluntary Action Society
(VAS) organized Border Area Programme a Celebration & Showcasing of
Cultural Dances under the theme of “Bridging the Border” at Picnic spot of Bhairabkunda in Udalguri district of Assam on
last Sunday.

The Bhairabkunda is situated with the wonderful
sites of nature in the tri-junction of Bhutan, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, is
considered to be a God's gift for the human being. Bhairabkunda also a very popular
picnic spot in Udalguri.
The Folk artistes from the States of Uttar Pradesh , Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Assam participated in the programme. Bodo dance from Rowta, Solakia dance from Mizoram, Santhali dance by Udalguri, Lewatana dance from Meghalaya, Rabha dance from Tangla, Sankha Badan dance from Odissa, Dhedia dance from Uttar Pradesh, Badhai Nritya from Madhya Pradesh, and also Adivasi dance from Udalguri were presented the vibrant eye catching colourful folk dances with folk musics.

The North Eastern
States share international borders with China, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and
Bangladesh. Border Area Programme is being implemented to initiate suitable
programmes and activities for the people living along international Border
Areas giving them a chance to participate in the cultural activities thereby
giving them sense of belongingness and thus nurture national integration.

Executive
Engineer of NEZCC, Ranjan Biswas inaugurated the programme, while, President
Derhashar Swargiary VAS delivered the
welcome speech in the inaugural ceremony. As dignitaries Programme coordinator Long
Puinba, Theatre director Ashim Kr. Nath, General Secretary Alongbar Brahma graced in
the programme. In last, Deputy President of VAS Monjib Mochahari give the vote
of thanks.
